Department: Maintenance & Operations Classification: Non-Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under general supervision, supervise the maintenance and custodial services at assigned school. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education/Certification

• High school diploma or GED required

• Licenses

• Valid Georgia driver's license and safe driving record

• Physical Demands

• Be able to stand and walk the majority of the day

• Lift and carry twenty (20) to thirty (30) pounds and on occasion up to one hundred (100) pounds

• Push or pull the same weight amounts

• Frequent bending and stooping

• Be able to work off ladders and lifts

• Frequent use of chemicals and aerosols

• Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in custodial work, preferably in a school system.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to work as part of a team

• Knowledgeable about cleaning methods and cleaning materials

• Basic understanding of computers with some skill in email and word documents

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

• Train and lead custodians with maintenance and cleaning of the building and grounds.

• Order cleaning supplies following the custodial supply contract guidelines while keeping a sufficient inventory or supplies on hand.

• Ensures that supplies are utilizes efficiently and for proper purpose.

• Work with system custodial supervisor and contracted custodial supply vendor to maintain an accurate inventory of supplies and equipment.

• Maintain an adequate supply of light bulbs for fluorescent tubes, exit lights door lights and all other bulbs used in the building.

• Perform general building maintenance including change ceiling tiles and light bulbs when needed.

• Keep office materials organized and filed. This includes but is not limited to MSDS, instructional manuals and materials, safety information and equipment manuals.

• Ensure that all supplies and materials are safely and properly stored to prevent fire hazard or chemical danger to others.

• Ensure all cleaning supplies and liquids are disposed of properly.

• Monitor all chemical usage and storage to prevent improper use and hazard to others. This includes but is not limited to all OSHA chemical labeling and storage requirements.

• Develop and implement daily, weekly, monthly and periodic cleaning schedules.

• Adjust cleaning schedules to ensure best coverage for emergencies and absenteeism.

• Enter all maintenance work orders into work order software system for all building and equipment repairs including custodial equipment and for any other maintenance issues related to the school building and grounds keep equipment and building in good repair.

• Monitors maintenance work orders to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner and reports all problems to System Maintenance Coordinator.

• Report any Fire Safety issues to Principal and Custodial Services Manager.

• Follow all safety and fire safety requirements and ensure that all custodians also follow these requirements.

• Assign person(s) to see that building is properly opened in each morning and adequately secured at night and when not in use.

• Assist in the recycling program for school.

• Assists custodians with their work/perform custodial work for at least 50 – 75 % of the day.

• Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal, Custodial Services Manager or System Maintenance Coordinator.
