• Plan, deliver, and assess instruction consistent with district curriculum

• Provide a variety of learning methods and resources to engage students in educational activities and lessons

• Implement student Individual Education Plans and coordinate transition services

• Work cooperatively with regular and special education teachers, LISD personnel, governmental and other service agencies.

• Plan for and supervise teacher assistants for students in the general education classrooms.

• Continuously monitor and evaluate student outcomes through informal and formative assessments

• Effectively and consistently communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community

• Be a team player; working with other members to improve techniques, relations with the community, and school environment

• Committed to continuous improvement through training and the use of technology.

• Participate in district-wide professional development

• Perform other duties consistent within the scope of the position

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 60 semester hours of satisfactory credit (grade ‘C' or better) combined from one or more two- or four-year colleges or universities recognized by Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or an associate degree from a college, university, or community college in accordance with Michigan Compiled Law (MCL) 380.1233.

• Demonstrated skills in the use of technology

• Ability and willingness to work in a team setting

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Knowledge of the academic, social, and emotional needs of the high school age student is required.
