About this role
The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, training, and overseeing the school's competitive video gaming teams while fostering a safe, inclusive, and academically balanced environment. Key Responsibilities
• Team & Practice Management: Conduct regular practice sessions, develop in-game strategies, analyze gameplay footage, and manage match rosters for leagues like PlayVS.
• Student Mentorship: Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, digital citizenship, and leadership among student-athletes.
• Academic Monitoring: Reinforce the importance of balancing competitive gaming with academic performance and graduation requirements.
• Logistics & Compliance: Coordinate event scheduling, equipment setup, transportation for away matches, and adherence to school and state athletic association rules.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Gaming Knowledge: Strong understanding of major competitive esports titles (such as Rocket League, League of Legends, or Super Smash Bros) and the scholastic esports landscape.
• Interpersonal Skills: Experience working effectively with high school students, providing constructive feedback, and communicating with parents and school administration.
• Availability: Willingness to work after school hours and occasionally on weekends for regional or state tournaments.
