About this role

The Boston Public Schools Office of Labor Relations (“OLR”) advises, counsels, and represents Boston Public Schools on and in a wide variety of labor and employee relations matters. OLR seeks applicants for the position of a part-time fall/spring Law Clerk (15 – 20 hours/week). The Law Clerk will support a seven-attorney office by performing litigation and research functions such as preparing for arbitration, drafting briefs, developing advisory memoranda, and drafting and revising school district policies.

This is a paid position - $20/hourly rate.

Qualifications OLR traditionally reviews applications from 2L/3L students with at least a 3.0 GPA, but will consider applicants with either a demonstrated interest in education, labor law, and related issues, or demonstrated prior work experience in litigation. Training OLR Law Clerk will begin the term with an orientation provided by OLR staff covering a variety of subjects, including:

• Office Operations

• Collective Bargaining Agreements

• Discipline Process

• Applicable Labor/Education Laws

• Arbitration/Litigation, and

• Advising Government Clients
