General Qualifications
• Has a background and at least five years experience in commercial and light industrial electricity and maintenance
• Understands and can read blueprints, wiring schematics of buildings and control systems and trouble shoot such systems
• Possesses a working knowledge of single and three phase power systems including 120/208/240/277/480 volts
• Possesses a knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning principles and systems and can service such systems
• Has a Universal refrigerant license
• Can repair and replace equipment with hermetic, and semi-hermetic compressors such as water coolers, window air conditioners, direct expansion split air conditioner systems and chilled water air conditioning systems, cooling towers, and VRV systems
• Can braze and solder copper tubing
• Understands and can trouble shoot digital control systems
• Has knowledge of and can service hot water and steam boilers
• Possesses the ability to communicate properly
• Is physically fit
• Possesses the ability to work with others

Specific Responsibilities
• Assists in annual inspections of boilers.
• Maintains and services chilled water air conditioners, window air conditioners, central direct expansion air conditioners, water coolers and air driers in all District buildings.
• Services gas burners and controls on hot water and steam boilers, and condensate pump motors.
• Maintains and services air handlers, blower motors, belts and filters.
• Services kitchen equipment such as steamer boiler units, small appliances, can openers, mixers, convection ovens, heating cabinets and serving units.
• Develops preventative maintenance procedures for systematic servicing of equipment.
• Assists other maintenance personnel if needed.
• Maintains inventory of necessary and often used parts to maintain equipment with minimum of down time.
• Keeps track of and maintain District's tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Keeps assigned service vehicle clean, neat, orderly, and maintains schedule to have routine maintenance and service performed on vehicle under direction of the Director of Buildings and Grounds or his/ her designee.
Terms of Employment
• Wages, hours, terms, and conditions of employment in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Board of Education and the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 399, AFL-CIO
