Job Title: Kids Club Student Worker Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt Reports to: Community Services Program Coordinator Hourly Rate: $15.00 per hour Dept./School: Assigned Campus Date Revised: 06/26/2024 PRIMARY PURPOSE Assist Kids Club staff with supervising children in grades Pre-K through 5 in the after-school program, ensuring each child is well cared for and safe. QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification:
• High school student or home-schooled high school student residing within the boundaries of DSISD
• At least 15 years of age
Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Ability to read and verbally communicate with children, staff, and parents
• Ability to work positively with groups of children
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Effective organizational and communication skills
• Ability to relate to children and adults with courtesy, respect, compassion, and patience
Experience:
• Some experience working with children preferred
Requirement:
• Ability to work Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. while school is in session
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Assist with supervision of students and conduct age-appropriate activities for children in care.
• Ensure the safety and security of children in the building and during transitions to and from outdoor play areas.
Other
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development, meetings, and special events as assigned.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. MENTAL DEMANDS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Tools/Equipment Used: Standard classroom and office equipment; playground equipment; personal computer and printer. Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping. Motion: Moderate walking. Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying. Environment: Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to sun, heat, cold, inclement weather, and noise. Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control and self-control in the presence of children.
