Job SummaryYou will serve as a WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR for NAVAL STATION.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: : I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including receiving, segregating, identifying, classifying, storing, processing, and disposing of hazardous waste as well as primary, secondary, and tertiary wastewater treatment processes, specifically for industrial wastewater containing heavy metals, chemicals, and other industrial byproducts. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. SELECTIVE FACTOR : CDL Class B with Hazardous Material and Tanker Endorsements Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations. Major DutiesYou will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Industrial Waste Treatment Plant and the Bilgewater Treatment Train which are designed to satisfy various environmental standards and to prevent toxic wastes from entering Fort Kam.You will check all documents required for turn-in of wastes to the Industrial Waste Treatment Plant.You will assist generators when they request help in determining type and amount of chemical analysis is required.You will operate a tank truck to pick up and transport chemical wastes from generator's site to the treatment plant.You will be responsible for the proper treatment, dewatering, drumming, sampling, documentation and labeling of the waste until it is shipped off site.You will sample untreated waste after different waste streams are combined and sample untreated wastes periodically to confirm analysis.
