This National Guard position is for a RANGE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2798000 and is part of the JOINT FORCE HEADQUARTERS, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants.

QualificationsMilitary Grades: ENLISTED GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable?? work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Must have experience developing administrative procedures. Must have experience implementing range operations functions directly related to the safe and efficient utilization of the Range and Training Area (RTA) complex during live fire and live training operations on multiple ranges, maneuver training area, and live training facilities. Must have experience performing range safety functions to include on-site inspections of ranges and training areas, safety pre-briefing to using military and civilian agencies, investigation of range accidents/incidents, and providing technical guidance and advice to supervisors, range safety officers, and unit personnel. Experience monitoring and inspecting the range and training area complex for training and recreational activities to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, procedures, range, or facility standard operating procedures (SOPS), range risk assessments, Surface Danger Zones (SDZs) overlays, and special instructions.

Major DutiesAs a RANGE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST (GS-0301-09), you will serve as a Range Operations Specialist and is responsible for ensuring safe and overall compliance with appropriate regulations and safety requirements. The incumbent plans, coordinates, and assists the Range Operations Officer in directing operations for the Range and Training Area (RTA).
