QualificationsTo qualify at the GS-06 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis: Experience planning, coordinating, and administrating postal operations in compliance with USPS. DHS, USCG, GSA, and federal regulations. Experience interpreting and applying postal policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure operational compliance and improve mail services. Experience managing official mail operations, including incoming and outgoing mail, accountable mail, courier services and express mail. Experience analyzing mail operations and recommending process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery. Experience operating motor vehicles up to 1 1⁄2 tons to transport official mail and materials. Major DutiesYou will serve as a Mail and File Assistant and be responsible for providing technical and administrative direction over the mail service, postal inspections, postal training, correspondence and the mail distribution for all activities, and dispatch of all outgoing official mail. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Plans, coordinates, and oversees postal operations to ensure compliance and USPS, USCG, DHS, GSA, and federal regulations. Manages all official mail services, including incoming and outgoing mail, accountable mail courier, and express mail operations. Analyzes mail operations, prepares reports, monitors costs, and implements process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce expenses. Serves as the primary liaison with the U.S. Postal Service, providing guidance on postal regulations, policies, and service agreements. Operates government vehicles up to 1 1/2 tons to support the timely collection, transportation, and delivery of official mail.
