QualificationsSpecialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05 if applying at the GS-06 level, or GS-06 if applying at the GS-07 level) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-06 Specialized Experience is defined as: research, interpret, and apply a wide range of military pay regulations and laws to identify problems and recommend solutions. GS-07 Specialized Experience is defined as: research, interpret, and apply a wide range of military pay regulations and laws to resolve a wide range of issues and use of various automated systems to accurately process claims and corrective actions. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major DutiesDuties described below reflect the full performance level of GS-07. Duties assigned at the entry grade of GS-06 will be developmental in nature.Review and validate military out-of-service claims and a small number of civilian claims. This involves researching unclear claims and communicating directly with the claimant for clarification.Manually calculate payments for members based on board directives and claim research. This often involves reconstructing records and computing multi-year tax and pay information.Prepare payment vouchers after claim adjudication. Reconstruct and correct the appropriate pay systems (DJMS and MCTFS) to accurately reflect the necessary adjustments.Analyze records, determine corrective actions, and input transactions to correct military records and review claims, using knowledge of active duty, reserve, and out-of-service pay systems.Utilize various automated systems to accurately review and process claims and corrective actions.
