This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Demonstrating knowledge and skills in the basic elements of the heat process. 2) Distinguishing the difference between ferrous and non-ferrous metals and whether the metal products are castings, forgings, or wrought alloys to determine the proper furnace. 3) Following details of oral and written instructions and blueprints, sketches and work orders. 4) Incorporating knowledge of basic shop mathematics, and the skills to set up and use electric resistance welding machines. Major DutiesYou will plan and perform work involved in annealing, hardening, drawing, stress relieving, normalizing, quenching, deep freezing and/or aging various metals.You will perform required hardness test to assure that processed metals meet technical hardness specifications.You will prepare furnaces and ladles prior to pours.You will pour molten metal into molds utilizing knowledge of heat and metal to determine when to pour as well as speed of pouring.
