Job SummaryThis job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, position description D0483000, within the AASF-1 of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The primary purpose of the position is responsibility for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties.
QualificationsGeneral Experience: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. Specialized Experience: Have at least 12 months of experience or training installing, adjusting, and troubleshooting in the following areas: Testing various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft Coordinating the work of other mechanics and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion Ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container
Major DutiesAs an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-10, you will: Participate in various types of readiness evaluations Perform inspection, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft Troubleshoot and perform unscheduled maintenance on assigned aircraft utilizing various testing equipment Observe and ensure compliance with standard procedures and applicable technical publications Provide data for aircraft maintenance historical records,maintenance data, collection, and man-hour accounting Troubleshoot, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, system, and surfaces. for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Perform other Duties as AssignedRequirementsCompatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.Areas of Consideration: CAT 3 ALL NJ ARNG MEMBERS All New Jersey Army National Guard members (M-Day, Traditional, Active Guard Reserve, and Drill-Status Guardsmen) Military Grades: E-4 to E-9 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Security Clearance Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment.
