In short: Will you help newcomers find their way in the Dutch education system meaningfully, with dignity, and smoothly? Make an impact as a TOBaatje (Total Buddy) for a child or young person from a newcomer family! How? Provide online (or offline/in-person) support for 1 to 2 hours per week, practicing Dutch and other challenging subjects. Profile: - You are proficient in Dutch - Familiar with the Dutch education system - A background in education, pedagogy, speech therapy, or even experienced school experience is ideal. - Curious about or able to easily interact with other cultures - You have the time and space to meet with children weekly Job description: As a TOBaatje, you will help a child or young person (ages 7-18) from a newcomer family who is struggling with homeschooling. You will provide support with homework, practicing Dutch, math, and other challenging school subjects. You may also act as a mentor/buddy. Are you available to mentor someone for one or more hours per week for at least six months? Then this is the perfect vacancy for you! What's on offer: As a volunteer TOBuddy, you'll make an impact in the life of a child/young person. We'll give you access to an online community of volunteers where tips and knowledge about mentoring are shared. We regularly hold peer supervision sessions and workshops for our volunteers.
