About this role

Eurofins Drinking Water and Wastewater Central, is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join our team. The Laboratory Supervisor will oversee all laboratory operations and employees, ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, support implementation of a robust and effective Quality Assurance program, and the review of continuous improvement activities in support of site safety.

Laboratory Supervisor responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Oversee all activities and employees of the locationProject management of all received samples and projects as neededAnalyze analytic testing on potable and non-potable water samplesPerform monthly environmental testing (water, surfaces, air) and annual calibrationsReceive and log potable water and non-potable water samples from clientsSubmit all compliance drinking water to State Heath Authority and EPA as neededAnswer and respond to all client correspondence via phone and emailSchedule all equipment calibration and maintain diligent recordsSchedule all sample collections performed by the locationConsult water systems and utilities on testing and sampling proceduresMaintain laboratory supply inventoryMaintain all SOPs and training documentsMaintain all NELAP certification requirements including but not limited to: proficiency testing, internal audits, logbook audits, on-site audits by accreditation body and audit responsesAct as onsite Quality Assurance Leader:Ensure adherence to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operationsLead interventions in laboratories with inadequate Quality Systems or managementReview the laboratory monthly reports to stay current with laboratory issues and achievementsReview audit responses for the laboratory, as neededCompile Quality System metrics to monitor the status and performance of the laboratoryMonitor laboratory certification activities to ensure no major losses of certificationsInvestigate issues raised by clients, QA, sales, and other departments to find root cause, implement corrective action, and document proper responsePerform internal investigations of suspected data integrity related and/or ethics violation issuesIdentify and/or develop model Quality System tools, policies, and procedures, and make these available for adoption within the laboratoryDevelop and participate in the Quality Management Training for new and prospective quality management staffParticipate in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) oversight and standardizationAssist with internal Quality Systems Audits as neededAct as onsite Health and Safety Leader:Ensure maintenance of training records for all employeesAssist in identification of systematic problems within laboratoriesRecommend resolutions for ongoing or recurring nonconformanceMaintain historical indices of all technical records including SOPs, QC records, laboratory data, etc.Monitor laboratory for unsafe conditions or acts to keep lab in compliance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan, EH&S Procedures, and company policies.Ensure the proper personal protective equipment is available and personnel are properly trained in its use.Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and identifies and eliminates root cause.Conduct monthly facility inspections for compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and procedures.Conduct safety equipment checks to ensure proper working order and sufficient inventory.Coordinates emergency response team to provide prompt medical attention and stabilize emergency situation. After emergency is over, assists in determining appropriate clean up procedures.Review and maintains safety data sheets for laboratory materials.Coordinate the management and disposal of laboratory wastes.Review and approves safety practices in standard operating procedures.Prepare and maintains laboratory Integrated Contingency Plan.Monitor air quality in facility, including monitoring fume hoods for proper operation and ventilation.Monitor and maintains chemical inventory. Approves new chemical purchases. Basic Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, physical sciences, or engineering. Coursework must include at least sixteen (16) college semester credit hours in general microbiology and biology and at least twenty-four (24) college semester credit hours in chemistry.Have at least two (2) years of experience in the environmental analysis of representative analytes for which the laboratory seeks or maintains accreditation. Master’s degree or doctoral degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry will reduce requirement of experience by one year as substitution.Have at least one (1-2) years of experience in the environmental analysis of inorganic and organic analytes for which the laboratory seeks or maintains accreditation. Master’s degree or doctoral degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry will reduce requirement of experience by one year as substitution.Candidate must have NELAP certification from prior experience. Minimum 2-5 years of previous laboratory experience in testing of drinking water or waste water. 2+ years of previous leadership experience in a laboratory setting.Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorshipProfessional working proficiency in English is required, including the ability to read, write, and speak in English.The ideal candidate would possess the following skills and knowledge:

Strong leadership, initiative, and team building skillsKnowledge of environmental laboratory accreditation, industrial hygiene and regulatory requirementsQuality Assurance and Quality Control principlesStatistics and the fundamental application in an environmental laboratoryRoot cause analysis and corrective action principlesStrong analytical, logical, and negotiating skillsAbility to handle multiple prioritiesStrong computer, scientific, and organizational skillsExcellent communication (oral and written) skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitudeAbility to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies Position Hours: Monday- Friday, with Overtime as needed.

Starting Range for Position is $70,000 but will depend on candidate's prior experience.

Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) provides a compensation range for informational purposes, the actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill set, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
