Life Time is formalizing its compliance function to help connect and advance compliance by business operators across the company with support from corporate service groups, including Legal, Risk, Internal Audit, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Procurement, Technology.
This role serves as the connective tissue between the teams that interpret or set legal or risk-based requirements and the business leaders responsible for implementing them. You will turn legal, regulatory, safety, privacy, cybersecurity, vendor, and operational requirements into practical, simple processes that support Life Time's premium brand and help the business operate with integrity.
Reporting to the legal leadership team, this person will initially be a department of one. Success will require a builder's mindset, strong program and project management skills, sound judgment, and the ability to influence without relying on authority. The right person will be excited by energized by cross functional partnership, excited about the opportunity to solidify structure and rigor in this function, and motivated by the opportunity to make their mark on a growing public company.
Key Responsibilities: Compliance Program Leadership, Governance and Capability Building
• Build the foundation for Life Time's compliance program, including processes, governance, operating rhythms, and tools that help the company identify, prioritize, and manage compliance risks, especially in the areas of privacy, cyber security, data governance, consumer protection, health/medical compliance, and international compliance where applicable. • Chair and help evolve the cross-functional Compliance Committee. • Work with business leaders to implement and train on legal, regulatory, safety, and risk-based requirements in a way that is practical, brand appropriate, and sustainable. • Lead or support operational compliance projects across Life Time's clubs and growing in-center businesses, including areas such as: • Member experience, including consumer protection, privacy and information security compliance. • In-center or other ancillary businesses, including operational compliance in areas such as Aquatics, Kids/Child Center, Spa/Massage, Personal Training, Life Time Living. • Food and beverage, including operational compliance cafe operations, bistro/bars and nutritional supplement offerings. • Management services provided to medical businesses, including chiropractic clinics, performance and longevity clinics, and medi-spa services.
• Partner with Legal, Internal Audit, Risk, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Procurement, Technology, and other corporate service teams to translate these requirements into actionable business processes. • Help develop structures for third party vendor oversight and ethical supplier considerations. • Build credibility across the organization by approaching compliance as a function that partners, propels, and protects the business.
Risk Assessment, Issue Management and Reporting
• Calibrate and assess risk. • Help the business respond to new or changing laws and regulations by coordinating stakeholders, clarifying requirements, and driving execution from concept through completion. • Support root cause analyses and after-action reviews when litigation, audits, incidents, or emerging risks reveal gaps in policies, processes, or practices. • Organize, strengthen and modernize our process for review and publication of corporate policies. • Serve as a trusted partner to the business, helping teams understand not just what needs to happen, but why it matters and how to do it well.
Required Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, audit, legal, or a related function. • Significant experience in operational compliance, risk, legal practice or legal operations, internal audit, or a related function, ideally including experience building or helping scale a compliance program. • Particular experience in some combination of privacy, information security, data governance, consumer protection, health/medical compliance, and third-party compliance is a plus.
• Experience in a public company or larger private company environment(s), especially in retail, consumer services, health and wellness, hospitality, fitness, or other operationally complex environments. • Breadth across compliance domains rather than a narrowly specialized background. This role needs to connect many risk areas across the business. • A track record of advancing cross functional work from issue identification through implementation.

Someone who helps the business get things done while protecting the company and mitigating risk. • Comfort working in ambiguity and building in an environment where a roadmap is not fully defined. • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize across a broad and evolving risk landscape. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to make complex requirements clear, practical, and actionable. • Facility with the use of AI tools to efficiently perform tasks.
Certifications:
• Preferred CCEP certification (Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional)
Success in This Role Looks Like: In the first year, success is about creating focus, building trust, and showing value. You will organize Life Time's compliance risks, clarify priorities, chair the Compliance Committee, partner with business and corporate service leaders, and begin putting durable processes in place.
Longer term, this role has the opportunity to shape what compliance looks like at Life Time, including a focus on building a compliance function that focuses on integrity in the operation of a premium consumer brand.
