Mō te tūranga | About the role Join our team as a Civil Carpenter and play a key role in delivering important works at Timaru Port Wharf. This is a Full Time, Fixed Term position until September 2027.
You’ll be part of a crew delivering reinforced concrete and structural carpentry work in an active port environment, where safety, quality, and teamwork matter every day. As a carpenter you will be ideally trade qualified with experience in formwork, retaining walls, wharves, abutments, piers, columns, concrete and steel.
This role suits someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in getting the details right, and wants to be part of a flat, friendly team doing Good Work that lasts.
Key role responsibilities
• Complete formwork, boxing, and civil carpentry work for wharf and port structures.
• Interpret plans and drawings to deliver work accurately and efficiently.
• Repair, build, and fit structural elements as part of marine and heavy civil works.
• Work closely with supervisors, leaders, and site crew to keep delivery moving safely and smoothly.
• Operate hand and power tools needed for day-to-day carpentry work.
We’re looking for someone with
• At least 3 years’ experience in a carpentry role, ideally in civil or heavy construction.
• A carpentry qualification is highly preferred
• A Class 1 full NZ driver licence
• Experience with formwork, concrete structures, retaining walls, wharves, abutments, piers, columns, or similar civil works.
• A positive, collaborative approach, with a willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to a strong team culture.
