About this role

As an Operational Manager for Books business, you will lead a team of hourly associates through the daily rhythm of digital book production—from printing through binding, finishing, and ship-ready packaging. You will focus on four fundamentals: safety, quality, customer experience, and productivity. This is a floor-based leadership role in a production environment, not a corporate function. You will stay close to the equipment, the team, and the operation, with direct accountability for daily performance and customer outcomes. Key job responsibilities • Own the safety, quality, and productivity of your assigned production area, driving daily performance against targets. • Lead, coach, and develop a team of hourly associates, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning. • Analyze production forecasts and determine daily staffing and throughput requirements to meet overall site goals. • Partner with other Area Managers to balance workload across areas, ensuring smooth end-to-end flow. • Support all safety programs and regulatory compliance to guarantee a safe working environment for every associate. • Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives using Lean tools and root cause analysis. • Monitor machine performance, quality metrics (DPMO, waste rates), and escalate equipment issues to maintenance and engineering. • Contribute to launch readiness activities including equipment qualification, training deployment, and SOP development. A day in the life • 3x2 rotating schedule (3 days on / 3 days off, 2 days on / 2 days off). • 12-hour shifts (06:00–18:00 or 18:00–05:00). • Availability to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis About the team The International Make on Demand organization operates across multiple countries and brings together two businesses: Print on Demand and Merch on Demand. Our mission is to help authors and content creators bring their ideas to customers. The team is multinational, multicultural, and multilingual, offering meaningful exposure to global operations and cross-functional collaboration. This role will lead the Print on Demand operation in Brazil, with opportunities to take on broader scope and complexity over time.
