Sim Shacks is seeking a skilled and dependable *Carpenter* to join our growing construction team.
We design and build premium backyard golf simulator structures from the ground up, and we?re looking for someone who is comfortable working through *multiple stages of construction*.
The ideal candidate has strong residential carpentry experience and can confidently take part in everything from *framing and insulation through interior wall finishes, door and window trim, baseboards, flooring, and final finishing details*.
This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, works efficiently, and enjoys seeing a project progress from framing to a finished space.
Duties
* Participate in all stages of Sim Shack construction from structural framing through final interior finishing * Frame walls, floors, roofs, openings, and other structural components * Install insulation and vapour barrier systems * Install interior wall finishes, including decorative and acoustic wall panels * Install exterior and interior doors and windows as required * Measure, cut, fit, and install door and window casing, baseboards, trim, and other finish carpentry * Read measurements, plans, drawings, and construction details accurately * Safely operate common carpentry and construction tools, including saws, nailers, drills, routers, and other power tools * Assist with exterior finishes and other building components as required * Identify and resolve minor construction and finishing issues during the build * Load, unload, organize, and handle building materials * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site * Work closely with the rest of the construction team to keep projects on schedule * Maintain a high standard of workmanship throughout every stage of the project
Qualifications
* *2?5+ years of experience in carpentry, residential construction, renovations, or a similar field preferred* * Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality are essential * Strong framing and general carpentry skills * Experience with finish carpentry, including baseboards, casing, trim, and interior finishing * Experience installing insulation, vapour barrier, wall panels, flooring, doors, or windows is an asset * Comfortable using common construction and woodworking tools independently * Ability to read basic construction drawings and understand measurements and layouts * Strong attention to detail and pride in finished workmanship * Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems on site * Physically capable of lifting and handling construction materials * Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team * Willingness to learn Sim Shacks' specific construction methods and finishing standards
Safety Requirements
* CSA-approved safety boots and appropriate PPE required * Working at Heights certification considered an asset * First Aid certification considered an asset
