About this role

The Projet PAL Community Centre offers a wide range of therapeutic activities and workshops for members living with mental health challenges. All activities and programming are planned and voted on by the members themselves. The Community Centre's three Community Outreach Workers are responsible for bringing these activities to life with the support of PAL Activists, participants in our PAL Action vocational reintegration program.

*Summary of the Position*

We are seeking a creative, responsible, organized, and energetic Community Worker to organize and facilitate activities and workshops at our Community Centre. In this role, you will prepare community meals, mobilize members around causes that matter to them, facilitate discussion groups, plan recreational activities, supervise a vocational reintegration program, and help foster meaningful connections within the community.

The successful candidate will play a key role in reducing social isolation and strengthening members' sense of belonging while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. You will join an experienced team dedicated to supporting individuals living with mental health challenges.

*Qualifications*

* Bilingual (able to communicate fluently in both French and English) * Ability to understand and apply Projet PAL's alternative philosophy, based on mutual support, member empowerment, and the right to self-determination * Willingness to learn and adapt to a Solution-Focused Approach * Warm, empathetic, approachable, and energetic personality * Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills * Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and members * Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution * Experience working in a kitchen or strong cooking skills * Experience in mental health and/or a community centre setting (asset) * Additional talents such as art, music, theatre, or other creative skills (strong asset)

*Key Responsibilities*

*Community Centre Activities*

* Develop and distribute the monthly Community Centre activity calendar * Recruit external facilitators when required and act as their primary contact * Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of activities and discussion groups while respecting the allocated budget * Plan and prepare community meals alongside members * Encourage member participation in activities and organizational decision-making

*Administrative Responsibilities*

* Perform basic financial tasks (petty cash management, purchasing, etc.) * Register members for activities * Process and follow up on membership applications and renewals

*PAL Action Social Reintegration Program*

* Receive, assess, and follow up on participant applications * Create and distribute participant schedules and ensure they are followed * Support the development of participants' social and personal skills * Supervise participants in the completion of their assigned duties * Conduct monthly one-on-one follow-up meetings with participants * Facilitate mental health discussion groups exclusively for program participants * Organize the program's annual graduation ceremony

*Advocacy, Collaboration & Organizational Participation*

* Encourage members to advocate for themselves and exercise their rights * Refer members to appropriate community resources based on their needs * Develop, simplify, and present information sessions on social issues, rights, and available resources * Mobilize members around issues that are important to them * Collaborate with mental health advocacy organizations in accordance with the mandates of the Board of Directors and Executive Director * Participate in internal meetings (weekly team meetings, members' assemblies, ad hoc committees, etc.) * Provide occasional coverage in other Projet PAL services, including residential housing programs

* Permanent full-time position * *$25.50/hour* (35 hours per week) * Monday to Friday, *9:00 a.m. to 4:3
