The Engineering Department is seeking an experienced operations Manager of Fleet Services to lead its Fleet Services Team. Fleet Services is responsible for all aspects of the operation, planning, and compliance of the municipal fleet assets and a provincially regulated Preventative Maintenance Facility. The successful candidate will manage a multi-trades workforce engaged in maintenance and repair of municipal assets, and equipment and participates in the procurement of municipal assets. This position is also responsible for the development of a preventative maintenance program and inventory management system for the Public Works small tools and equipment program. As a municipal leader in sustainability and asset management, the Manager of Fleet Services is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring innovative and cost-effective fleet strategies to achieve our corporate goals and align with Council direction. This includes reducing corporate GHG emissions from the existing internal combustion engine fleet; strategically evaluating the benefits and managing operational risks associated with emerging electric vehicle (EV) technology; advancing the sustainable fleet maintenance management system and industry best practices, and leading and promoting continuous improvement initiatives. The Fleet Services Manager provides full divisional leadership, including work planning, budget preparation and administration, expenditure and productivity controls, recruitment, orientation, training, performance management, staff development, and implementation of the District?s health and safety program. The role also prepares reports and presentations for senior leadership, stakeholders, and Council, and may be required to support District emergency opejavascript:void('Copy')rations. The role also includes oversight of key fleet compliance and asset-management functions, including commercial vehicle regulatory requirements, preventative maintenance facility obligations, vehicle licensing and permits, fleet systems such as telematics/GPS, warranty follow-up, and related contract administration. We are seeking a dynamic individual that can think quickly and creatively in emergencies while maintaining their demeanour; has exceptional interpersonal skills; is detail-oriented and organized; and is a positive leader who develops teamwork and collaboration between operational sections and various stakeholders and leads by example to implement the Division, Department and District Strategic Plans. The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of principles, methods, equipment, and tools of the automotive and heavy-duty mechanical trade, particularly as related to vehicle cost data, replacement schedules and utilization rates, and efficient use of all Public Works small tools and equipment. They will have knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and practices, preferably in the public sector.
