Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Installation. On-site customer service. Testing. Repair. Tasks: Install, arrange, remove and maintain telephone equipment, wiring and associated hardware. Repair or replace defective telephone equipment. Complete and maintain test and service reports. Determine nature, cause and location of trouble. Operate computerized testing systems to conduct service tests on customer lines and equipment. May work in a team with shared supervisory responsibilities. Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals working with a client group. Sell products on a retail basis. Replace parts as required. Refer to schematic drawings or product manuals to repair parts. Logical approach for troubleshooting. Examine products for defects to ensure adherence to quality standards.
