Join ALS Coal – Gladstone/Biloela, QLD as a Laboratory Assistant
About the Position: We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our team at the Callide Mine Site on a permanent full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Working on a rotating lifestyle roster (day and night shifts), you'll play a key role in supporting coal sampling, testing, and laboratory operations while contributing to the success of our site.
Your key responsibilities As a Laboratory Assistant, your day-to-day duties will include:
• Performing manual handling tasks in a safe and efficient manner
• Conducting routine coal sampling and testing
• Performing physical tests including, crushing, and dividing samples
• Coal preparation activities
• Loading and unloading samples from various plant streams
• Assisting with sample preparation and analysis
• Carrying out general laboratory duties
• Maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas
• Adhering to site safety procedures and quality standards
• Collaborating with team members across multiple sites as required
• Travelling between mine sites, day & night when required.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Good organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and unsupervised when required
• Flexibility to work additional shifts as needed
• Current and valid Driver's Licence
• Ability to wear and work in full PPE
• Physical fitness to undertake manual handling activities in frequent hot conditions
• Basic computer skills with email, excel and data entry.
Desirable (but not essential)
• Previous experience working in a laboratory environment
• Experience within mining, coal preparation, or resource industries
• Sample preparation and testing experience
