Job summary

Surrey Lodge Group Practice is a friendly, patient-focused GP practice committed to delivering high-quality care to our local community. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our clinical team and support the delivery of excellent patient care.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team alongside GPs, Nurses, Clinical Pharmacists, and Administrative staff.

Main duties of the job Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Practice Nursing Team and will undertake a range of clinical duties, including:

Phlebotomy (taking blood samples)Blood pressure monitoringHeight, weight and BMI measurementsNew patient health checksNHS Health ChecksECG recordingsUrinalysisSmoking cessation and health promotion adviceAssisting with vaccination and immunisation programmesWound care and dressing clinics (where trained and competent)Chaperoning dutiesStock management and ordering of clinical suppliesProcessing and preparing specimens for collectionMaintaining accurate clinical records using EMIS WebPreparing and maintaining clinical rooms and equipmentSupporting infection prevention and control procedures

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Essential Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within Primary Care, General Practice, Community Services, or another healthcare setting Care Certificate or equivalent qualification Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Caring, compassionate and professional approach to patient care Good IT and record-keeping skills Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and infection prevention and control

Desirable

Desirable Phlebotomy qualification and experience Experience undertaking NHS Health Checks Experience using EMIS Web Previous General Practice experience Vaccination and immunisation experience
