Responsibilities: We provide hands-on technical leadership across frontend development using React, TypeScript, Node.js and Material UI.We coordinate engineering workload and help the team deliver against the product roadmap.We define and maintain engineering standards covering architecture, code quality, testing, performance and accessibility.We lead code reviews and technical design discussions for scalable, high-performance solutions.We mentor and coach developers, raising technical capability across the team.We work closely with the Delivery Manager and key stakeholders to manage technical priorities, risks and dependencies.We drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, tooling and development practices.We support production systems and participate in an on-call rota during peak trading periods. We are a leading UK retail organisation with a high-performing eCommerce engineering team, and we are hiring a Lead Frontend Developer to help shape the technical direction of a customer-facing platform used by millions of users worldwide. This is a technical leadership role rather than a people management position, so you will remain hands-on while guiding engineering standards, coordinating delivery, reviewing code and mentoring developers. You will work with modern technologies including React, TypeScript, Node.js, Material UI and Next.js, within a collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous improvement. The role is based in Leicester with a hybrid working pattern, offers a salary of £63,825 to £72,618 plus a 10-12% annual bonus, and relocation support may be available.
