About this role

Oakgrove School is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Advisor to join our support team in September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to support our secondary students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and help them access learning, achieve their potential, and thrive in a supportive school environment.

Working under the guidance of teaching staff, you will provide tailored support to individuals and small groups, both in and out of the classroom, including occasional online sessions and exam support.

The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm (3.30pm finish on Fridays) with a daily unpaid 30 minute lunch break. Term time only plus mandatory September training days which will be paid in addition to salary.

Key Responsibilities

Support students with SEN in accessing the curriculumWork with individuals and small groups on targeted learning programmesProvide feedback on student progress and achievementAssist with exam support in line with regulationsSupport students in lessons, at break/lunch times, and during extracurricular activitiesPrepare and maintain learning resources and a positive learning environmentLiaise with teaching staff and relevant professionalsComplete administrative and clerical tasksAttend meetings, training, and professional development activitiesWhat We’re Looking For

Essential:

GCSE (or equivalent) in English and MathsExperience of working with young people, ideally with SENStrong communication and interpersonal skillsA patient, supportive, and flexible approachAbility to work effectively as part of a teamCommitment to inclusion, equality, and safeguardingDesirable:

Teaching Assistant qualification or SEN trainingExperience in a school environment (particularly secondary)Knowledge of specific needs (e.g. autism, ADHD, dyslexia)Experience supporting exams or online learningKingsbridge Educational Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
