About this role

Job summary

The main purpose of this role is to provide a range of clinical care working in one or more specialist areas of audiology. All post holders will regularly work alone at outstations. The post holder is responsible for maintaining clinical records in relation to the activities carried out. The post holder will also supervise or train less experienced staff and be a point of contact for junior staff regarding routine cases, and provide advice regarding the specialist area(s) they work in. The post holder may also lead a team working in a specialist area.

This role involves specialist patient care. All such care will be provided in an effective, caring and compassionate manner to patients. The post holder is required to abide by the NHS values and the NHS Constitution.

Main duties of the job

Acting as a point of contact for more junior staff (e.g. Associate or Assistant Audiologists, and less experienced Audiologists) within the service

Provides day to day supervision of more junior staff (e.g. Associate or Assistant Audiologists, and less experienced Audiologists)

Act as mentor and / or supervisor for trainee staff as require

Assist the Clinical Lead and Deputy clinical Lead to develop and adapt the service according to changing criteria and demographics.

Assist the Clinical Lead and Deputy clinical Lead to manage changes in practice and establish new systems of working when necessary.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

BSc Audiology or equivalent Registered as one of the following (or eligible for registration): HCPC/AHCS registered

Desirable

BAA Higher Training Scheme Certificate of Clinical Competence in specialist area(s) role is within, or equivalent. British Sign language level 1 or equivalent

Knowledge and skills Essential

Experience of NHS Audiology Services

Desirable

Teaching, supervision and mentorship experience

Experience Essential

Post qualification clinical experience

Desirable

Teaching, supervision and mentorship experience
