We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed receptionist to expand our busy, thriving practice. We operate from 2 sites (Avicenna Medical Centre and Oakdale Medical Centre) providing high quality care to our patients.
This is a very challenging and rewarding post where duties are varied.
You will support the team to deliver excellent customer service with energy and enthusiasm, encouraging constantly improving services for our Patients. You will also provide administrative support to the clinical team
Main duties of the job
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies You will need to display excellent communication skills. You must be able to prioritise tasks. You will receive, assist and direct patients in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
About us
Candidates must be computer literate and have an excellent telephone manner. Previous experience in a surgery environment and experience of EMIS computer system a distinct advantage, however full training will be given. Duties include answering the telephone, booking appointments, patient follow up for test results, generating repeat prescriptions, contacting patients for recall and action needed following hospital appointments.

The contracted hours are between 7:45am and 8pm, however the work patterns for this vacancy will vary between 7.45am to 6.30pm, flexibility to cover early or late shifts is essential.
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the practice administration team may include any or all of the items in the following list:
Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail Taking messages and passing on information Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers Message handling: ensure that accurate messages are taken and passed to appropriate person for action. Receptionist must ensure that any outstanding queries must be passed for action before going off duty. To be flexible and to provide cover for absent colleagues when required. Maintain confidentiality of all patient records and data at all times.
