We are looking to recruit a Registered Band 5 Staff Nurses to join the enthusiastic team on the Acute Medical Unit.
Job Summary:
Be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care Supervise junior staff and to participate in the teaching of students on both basic and post basic courses Maintain his/her personal and professional development Participate in effective utilisation of resources Act in accordance with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct Proven post registration experience is required for this role.
Main duties of the job
Our Acute Medical Unit is a busy, fast-paced 50-bedded department, offering an excellent opportunity to develop a broad range of clinical skills and knowledge across multiple specialties. Working within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will gain valuable experience in the assessment, treatment and management of acutely unwell patients in a supportive, challenging and rewarding environment.
Main Duties
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for acutely unwell patients admitted to the Acute Medical Unit Monitor patients' clinical condition, recognising and responding promptly to signs of deterioration Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with Trust policies and professional standards Undertake a range of clinical skills including venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording, catheterisation and intravenous therapy Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and facilitate timely discharge planning Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date patient records and documentation Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care while supporting patients and their families throughout their admission Prioritise and manage workload effectively within a busy and fast-paced environment Promote patient safety, infection prevention and safeguarding practices at all times Support, supervise and mentor junior staff, students and new team members as appropriate

Qualifications & Professional Registration Essential
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Part 1 Adult / General Level 1 or 2) Degree / Diploma in Nursing studies or equivalent
