About this role

Job summary

Are you a passionate children's nurse and inspiring leader looking for your next challenge? This is an exciting opportunity to lead a highly specialised Children's Long-Term Ventilation Team (CLTVT), making a real difference to the lives of children, young people and their families.

As Team Lead, you will provide operational leadership for the service, ensuring high standards of clinical care, governance and service delivery. You will help shape and develop a skilled workforce through leadership, supervision, mentoring and professional development.

o Providing clinical, professional and operational leadership for the CLTVT o Working autonomously as an expert children's nurse, delivering specialist advice and support to children and young people with complex ventilation needs o Leading assessments and reviews to ensure care packages achieve the best outcomes and effective use of resources o Combining clinical expertise with business awareness to deliver sustainable, innovative services o Championing high-quality, culturally sensitive care that promotes independence and supports families o Supporting a motivated multidisciplinary workforce and fostering a culture of learning, excellence and compassionate care This is an opportunity to influence the future of specialist children's services, improve outcomes for vulnerable patients and support families to live more independent lives.

Main duties of the job

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a specialist service supporting children and young people with complex healthcare needs. As Lead for the Children's Long-Term Ventilation Team, you will play a key role in delivering innovative, high-quality care that enables children and families to thrive.

In this role, you will:

Provide clinical, professional and operational leadership across the team Lead the development and oversight of care packages for children requiring long-term ventilation and tracheostomy support Champion safe, evidence-based, child-centred practice that delivers the best possible outcomes Oversee caseload allocation, workforce planning and service coordination Build strong partnerships across health, education and social care services Develop and support staff through supervision, mentoring and professional leadership Drive quality improvement, clinical governance, risk management and service development Contribute to local, regional and national developments in specialist children's services Shape systems and processes that promote consistency, quality and excellence Why this role matters

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (RNC) Specialist Community practitioner qualification (or evidence of significant post registration experience in a community setting)

Desirable

Educated to master's degree V300 Independent Nurse prescribing qualification or evidence of working towards / willingness to work towards

Knowledge Essential

Evidence of clinical knowledge and relevant experience in managing care for children & young with both acute and chronic illnesses Working knowledge and experience in safeguarding practices

Desirable

Knowledge of continuing health care processes

Experience Essential

Significant experience working with children with complex health needs, disabilities, long-term ventilation, and/or tracheostomy care Experience of working with children & young people in a community setting Experience of managing own caseload Substantial post registration experience at band 6 level

Desirable

Experience of working with external partners to drive and deliver change and improvements to support the needs of children and young people with SEND Experience of transitioning young people to adult services Experience of providing end of life care Evidence of having undertaken leadership role in working across boundaries (between wider Childrens services teams)

Skills Essential

Excellent clinical skills relevant to the post e.g. Tracheostomy, Ventilation, enteral feeding, complex seizure management Ability to engage team members and assist in delivering the change agenda Ability to manage conflict and promote strong relationships with all partners Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills Evidence of good communication and collaborative working across organisational boundaries Clear understanding of governance processes
