Job summary
West London GP Federation is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and proactive Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our Enhanced Access service. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HCA who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and improving health outcomes across our local communities.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing clinical support across multiple Enhanced Access hubs during weekends. The role offers the opportunity to work alongside GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Practice Nurses and other healthcare professionals, delivering safe, effective and patient-centred care to a diverse patient population.
Main duties of the job
Undertake delegated clinical duties including: Phlebotomy. CRM Health Checks. ECG recordings. Blood pressure monitoring. Height, weight and BMI measurements. Prepare clinical rooms and equipment before and after clinics. Ensure clinical rooms remain fully stocked, clean and organised. Maintain infection prevention and control standards at all times. Accurately document consultations and clinical activity within SystmOne. Escalate any abnormal findings or safeguarding concerns appropriately. Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care in accordance with Federation policies, local protocols and NHS standards. Work flexibly across both Enhanced Access hub sites as required. Maintain confidentiality and comply with information governance policies. Contribute to service improvement and support the wider multidisciplinary team.

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team across Federation sites, maintaining effective relationships with practice teams and partner organisations. Support the delivery of safe, accessible and high-quality Enhanced Access services across all Federation locations. Escalate clinical or operational concerns appropriately in line with Federation policies. Contribute to service improvement, clinical audits and quality assurance activities. Maintain awareness of local referral pathways and ensure patients are signposted to the most appropriate services. Leadership, Governance & Professional Development
Participate in clinical supervision, peer review and reflective practice sessions. Maintain professional registration, mandatory training and continuing professional development in line with regulatory requirements. Contribute to clinical governance activities, including incident reporting, significant event reviews and quality improvement initiatives. Support the induction, development and supervision of colleagues and learners where appropriate. Actively contribute to maintaining CQC standards and the continuous improvement of the Enhanced Access Service.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Care Certficate GCSE in English minimum = Grade C or equivalent Phlebotomy
Experience Essential
Essential Care Certificate. Accredited Phlebotomy qualification. Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant within General Practice or Primary Care. Experience independently managing HCA clinics. Excellent knowledge of SystmOne. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team. Good understanding of safeguarding, infection prevention and confidentiality. Flexible approach to working weekends and across multiple Enhanced Access sites.
Desirable
Desirable Experience undertaking CRM Health Checks. ECG competency. Competency in paediatric phlebotomy. Experience working within an Enhanced Access or GP Federation service.
