Main duties of the job
The Perinatal Team Manager is responsible for leading and managing a multidisciplinary perinatal mental health service, ensuring the provision of accessible, compassionate, and recovery-focused care.
The role involves overseeing service delivery, staff supervision and development, quality improvement, risk management, safeguarding processes, and collaborative working with maternity, health visiting, social care, and wider community services to improve maternal mental health and infant wellbeing.
The post holder will provide professional leadership and contribute to complex clinical decision-making, supporting staff in the assessment and management of risk, care planning, and the delivery of evidence-based interventions to ensure safe and effective outcomes for women, babies, and families.
You will support the evolving team by ensuring that operational policies are adjusted and aligned to service transformation, and that innovative practice is robustly implemented, and you will be expected to maintain a visible, professional presence providing staff with assistance, advice, and support.
The role will also include management of human and budgetary resources, ensuring evidence-based practice within the service as well as evident ability to co-ordinate varying tasks in care delivery and manage any unplanned challenges.

To provide operational management and support the clinical leadership across the Perinatal Mental Health Service.
To contribute to, quality improvement and problem solving across the clinical pathways.
Ensure clinical governance arrangements are in place to cover all of the clinical activity.
Ensure that staff are appropriately skilled and trained to deliver the service and to provide supervision.
Ensure satisfactory supervision arrangements are in place for all elements of service delivery.

Support and undertake risk formulation and risk management for individual clients and to assist and advise other professions on perinatal aspects of risk assessment, and risk management in line with Trust and inter-agency policies and procedures, including work with clients deemed as vulnerable adults.
To support the structure of clinical supervision in the service of clients with complex perinatal needs, enabling other members of the service to support and direct them to the appropriate place in the care pathway.
Monitor and evaluate the standard of care and take actions to ensure that a high standard of care is maintained.
Identify and be responsive to the diverse cultural, social, and spiritual needs of all patients.
Work flexibly to ensure cover across all teams. To provide clinical interventions and assessments depending on service need.
This post is predominately Monday Friday 9am 5pm but there may be times when flexibility is expected in line with role and responsibility. The service operates countywide and includes the Perinatal Trauma & Loss Service.

Education/Qualifications Essential
HCPC or NMC Professionals Registration SSSA/Mentor qualification/ ENB 998 or equivalent.
Desirable
Evidence of continued personal and professional development. Leadership Training Teaching/Coaching experience
Experience Essential
Post registration experience in working with people with mental health needs in the perinatal period. Evidence of experience in service evaluation and improvements. Experience of collaborative working with, and understanding of the roles of midwifery and health visiting.

Skills & Abilities Essential
Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision Competent IT skills including word, outlook, excel and power point. Ability to manage change and deal with conflict / stressful situations. Ability to prioritise workload effectively, meeting expected deadlines.

Knowledge & Understanding Essential
Experience of leadership and managing teams. Specialist knowledge of person-centred care and its application. Advanced understanding of the mental health needs of adults during the perinatal period. Knowledge of service improvement models and its application. Knowledge of leadership theories.

Ability to foster good interagency working. Ability to travel independently around Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area meeting required timescales. A Full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
