About this role

Job summary

Loughton Health centre are looking for a Salaried GP to join our existing friendly team for 4 sessions per week.

We have a practice list size of around 10,100 patients and are centrally located in Loughton Essex.

We have a long standing clinical team and an experienced non clinical support team

Main duties of the job

To provide high-quality, patient-centred primary medical care to the practice population.

To conduct face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations as appropriate.

Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and complete clinical records.

Process and action clinical correspondence, pathology results, and other administrative tasks in a timely manner.

Job description Job responsibilities

Provide high-quality, patient-centred primary medical care to the practice population. Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations as appropriate. Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions. Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with current guidelines and best practice. Order, interpret, and act upon investigations and test results. Refer patients to secondary care and other healthcare services when clinically indicated. Undertake home visits when required. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and complete clinical records. Process and action clinical correspondence, pathology results, and other administrative tasks in a timely manner. Participate in health promotion, disease prevention, and screening programmes. Contribute to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in accordance with local and national policies. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, pharmacists, physician associates, and administrative staff. Participate in practice meetings, clinical governance activities, audits, and quality improvement initiatives. Support the training and supervision of students, trainees, and other healthcare professionals where appropriate. Maintain professional registration, appraisal requirements, and continuing professional development (CPD).

Comply with all relevant legislation, professional standards, and practice policies, including confidentiality, information governance, and health and safety requirements.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

MBBS, MBChB or equivalent primary medical qualification. Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a current licence to practise. Inclusion on the GMC GP Register. Evidence of completion of GP Specialty Training (CCT) or equivalent qualification recognised for UK General Practice. Included on the relevant NHS Performers List. Valid indemnity cover in line with NHS requirements. Up-to-date mandatory training, including safeguarding and basic life support.

Desirable

Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP). Additional qualifications or diplomas relevant to General Practice (e.g. Women's Health, Child Health, Dermatology, Diabetes, Minor Surgery, Palliative Care, Mental Health). Experience as a GP in NHS primary care. Training or qualifications in teaching, mentoring, or supervision. Evidence of audit, quality improvement, research, or leadership activity.
