Job summary
This is a training progression role within the Psychological Therapies Team, part of the Mental Health In-Reach Service at HMP Risley and HMP Thorn Cross. The post holder will be employed at Band 4 and will progress to Band 5 upon successful completion of all required training and qualification requirements.
The post holder will provide high-volume, low-intensity psychological interventions while undertaking an accredited programme of training that will equip the post holder with the knowledge and skills required to deliver a range of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)-based self-management interventions for individuals experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
The post holder will attend all taught sessions and self-directed study days as required by the education provider applying newly acquired skills within the service during the remainder of the working week.
This post is offered on a fixed-term contract for the academic year October 2026 to October 2027 and is subject to the post holder successfully achieving all academic and practice-based requirements of the training programme, together with the relevant professional qualification. Upon successful completion of the programme and attainment of the required qualification, the post holder's contract will automatically convert to a substantive Band 5 Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) position.

Person Specification
Meets all essential criteria as a minimum Essential
Previous experience, either paid or unpaid, working with common mental health disorders An honors degree 2:2 or above or professional qualification to Health or Social Care Experience in delivering groups
