Job summary
We are looking for a psychology graduate (who has achieved the GBC) eager to make a difference for people directly or indirectly affected by drugs and alcohol. You will be part of our innovative multidisciplinary team, delivering comprehensive assessments and recovery focussed interventions. There are opportunities for professional development, peer support within our Psychology Directorate, reflective practice and research. Our model emphasises physical, psychological and emotional safety, and helps people regain a sense of control and empowerment in their lives. You will work under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist to ensure that psychological perspectives and trauma informed practice are central to everyones thinking. You will support the empowerment of teams and individuals to increase knowledge and skills around the needs of the people who access our services.

Main duties of the job
Carry out psychological assessment using psychometric measures, observation, semi-structured interviews under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist. Deliver group-based psychosocial interventions. Assist in formulation and delivery of person-centred care involving psychological treatment and/or management of complex problems. Support the delivery of psychological interventions with due regard to issues of cultural, racial, religious difference and sexual orientation. Utilise theory, literature and research to support evidence-based practice in individual work and within the wider team. Receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines. Develop relevant teaching skills and competencies. Contribute to training and support initiatives. Assist audit, research projects, data collection, analysis, production of reports under supervision using IT and statistical programmes. Undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist qualified clinical / counselling psychologists in evidence-based practice in individual work and with other team members. Gain wider experience of professional psychology within the Psychology Directorate. Maintain the highest of standards of clinical governance, ethical practice, and data protection. Attend meetings, in which service developments are planned and discussed.

Job description Job responsibilities
To carry out protocol based psychological assessment using appropriate psychometric measures, direct and indirect observation, semi-structured interviews under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
To deliver group-based psychosocial interventions that target substance using behaviour.
To assist in the formulation and delivery of person-centred care involving the psychological treatment and/or management of complex problems as required.
To support the delivery of psychological interventions with due regard to issues of cultural, racial, and religious difference and sexual orientation.

Teaching, Training and Supervision
In common with all qualified applied psychologists, to receive regular clinical supervision from a qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
To develop teaching skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of services.
To contribute to training and support programmes and initiatives for other staff within the team.
Research
To assist in the undertaking of audit and research projects on a supervised basis.
To undertake data collection, analysis, production of reports and summaries and using IT and statistical programmes as required.
To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist qualified clinical / counselling psychologists in evidence-based practice in individual work and with other team members.
Leadership
To gain wider experience of professional psychology within the Psychology Directorate.
To maintain the highest of standards of clinical governance, ethical practice and data protection.
To attend meetings, where directed and appropriate, in which the service developments are planned and discussed.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Evidence of the ability to work effectively within an MDT Experience of data analysis and with database management Experience of working with individuals and groups Good written and verbal communication skills Good interpersonal skills Time management and organisational skills Computer literacy skills Knowledge of statistical analysis packages e.g., SPSS, Excel Base level knowledge of psychological theory and models relevant to working with people complex needs Committed to ensuring high standards of care Organised and able to work in a very busy environment Committed to behaving in a professional manner always Demonstrates a warm, empathetic manner, and demonstrates enthusiasm to work within a team Demonstrates a flexible approach to work and a professional attitude This post is subject to a DBS check at an enhanced level.
Desirable
Experience of work related to clinical psychology e.g. Assistant psychologist or research assistant with relevant clinical input or other relevant clinical work Previous experience of working with complex trauma Previous experience of working with substance misuse Experience or teaching / training other professionals Base knowledge of psychometric tests

A qualification eligible for graduate basis for chartered membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society
Desirable
Degree in Psychology accredited by the British Psychological Society Evidence of further education in related areas
