Job summary
Gateway Primary Care CIC is seeking an enthusiastic, professional and compassionate Salaried GP to join our team for 4 to 6 sessions per week.
We are looking for an excellent clinician who is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care and who puts compassion, dignity and the individual needs of patients at the heart of their practice. The successful candidate will be professional, approachable and caring, with a strong commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and contributing positively to our primary care service.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner, providing high-quality, safe and effective medical care to the practice population. The post-holder will deliver an excellent standard of patient-centred care, working in accordance with the requirements of the primary care contract, GMC standards and relevant national and local guidance.
We are looking for a professional, compassionate and patient-focused GP who is committed to delivering excellent clinical care and who will contribute positively to the wider practice team. Gateway Primary Care CIC is a forward-thinking primary care organisation providing high-quality healthcare across Rotherham. We operate two practices: The Gate Surgery, with branches in Rawmarsh and Canklow, and Waverley Medical Centre.
The Gate Surgery has a specialist contract to provide primary care services to socially excluded and vulnerable groups, supporting patients who may face barriers to accessing mainstream healthcare.

Job description Job responsibilities Key Responsibilities
As a Salaried GP at Gateway Primary Care CIC, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, compassionate and patient-focused care. Your responsibilities will include:
Clinical CareProvide safe, effective and comprehensive medical care to the practice population.Assess patients holistically, considering both their physical and psychological needs.Develop appropriate, personalised management and treatment plans.Manage acute, urgent and complex presentations, including initiating emergency care when required.Provide effective diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of long-term conditions.Make appropriate and timely referrals to secondary care, community services and other agencies.Support patients with health promotion, prevention, healthy lifestyles and self-care.Develop and support anticipatory care plans for appropriate patients.Prescribing & MedicationPrescribe safely and appropriately in line with NICE, local and national guidance.Undertake medication reviews in accordance with practice policies, clinical guidelines and local care pathways.Ensure prescribing decisions are evidence-based and focused on patient safety and outcomes.Administration & Clinical RecordsComplete referrals, prescription requests, correspondence and other administrative tasks in a timely manner.Maintain accurate, comprehensive and contemporaneous clinical records.Ensure all clinical documentation meets professional, legal and practice standards.Teamwork & Practice ContributionWork collaboratively as an integral member of the practice and wider multidisciplinary team.Share responsibility for the practice workload and contribute positively to team working.Attend and contribute effectively to practice and multidisciplinary meetings.Support the wider primary care network and other healthcare professionals.Contribute to staff training, learning and the development of an effective practice environment.Quality, Governance & ImprovementWork in accordance with current clinical guidelines, evidence-based practice and audit recommendations.Contribute to clinical governance, QOF, audit and continuous quality improvement initiatives.Take delegated responsibility for specific clinical areas or areas of QOF activity, as appropriate.Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of practice services.Promote a culture of collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.Professional Standards & SafeguardingWork in accordance with GMC standards and Good Medical Practice.Comply with relevant legislation and practice policies, including Safeguarding Adults and Children.Maintain professional competence through continuing professional development, self-directed learning and reflective practice.Participate fully in the appraisal process and maintain appropriate records for revalidation.Ensure ongoing fitness to practise and compliance with professional requirements.Regularly review and adhere to practice policies, protocols and procedures.FlexibilityUndertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role, depending on service needs, workload and staffing levels.Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to support the practice and wider team where required.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
GMC registration with a licence to practise. Inclusion on the NHS Performers List. MRCGP or equivalent qualification. Appropriate experience in general practice. Evidence of safe, effective and patient-centred clinical practice. Ability to manage a broad range of acute and chronic conditions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to safeguarding, clinical governance and continuous improvement. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to professional development, appraisal and revalidation. A compassionate, professional and patient-focused approach.
Desirable
Experience of working with socially excluded or vulnerable patient groups. Experience of working across different primary care settings. Experience in clinical leadership, QOF, audit or quality improvement. Experience of teaching, mentoring or supporting other healthcare professionals. Additional clinical qualifications or areas of special interest. Understanding of the challenges and opportunities within modern primary care.
