About this role

The Chapel Coordinator is responsible for the arranging and production of the Chapel service at Central Church. Chapel is one of our multi-venue expressions at Central that features a choir, orchestra, various instrumental and vocal ensembles, and multi-media. This is a very detail oriented role that oversees the coordination of schedules, distribution of music, communicating, and coordination of worship elements for a team of 100+ volunteers within the scope of the Worship Arts ministry at Central. The Chapel Coordinator works primarily with the Chapel Music Director (MD) and the Chapel Lead Team to ensure the smooth execution of the Sunday Chapel service.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

While the Chapel Coordinator doesn’t oversee any staff members, it is expected that they will coordinate volunteer teams and take the lead on specific projects (music duplication, special Chapel events, and the like).

The Chapel Coordinator will report directly to the Chapel MD and indirectly to the Experience Pastor.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Procurement and distribution of music for all ensembles, both digital and print.

Coordination with Chapel MD & Central Worship to ensure a smooth worship experience.

Day-to-day management of scheduling volunteers, coordinating and communicating with service participants, including rehearsals, call times, expectations, and other details.

Serve as chief implementation specialist for services, debriefs, planning and alignment.

Assistance with shepherding the Chapel Team with the Chapel MD and pastoral staff.

Required Skills:

Knowledge and understanding of the unique needs of a choir, orchestra, and special ensembles (Jazz, Bluegrass, Brass Quartets, etc) Detail oriented – ability to zoom in on the mechanics – while maintaining the big picture.

Ability to work in missional harmony as part of our multivenue Experience team.

Driven, self-starter, intuition and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred Training and experience in music arrangement Experience with managing schedules, planning timelines and thinking ahead about how best to serve and equip people for excellence

Experience of being part of a musical ensemble in a worship setting

Capacity to juggle multiple details simultaneously, thinking about the week-to-week flow and seasonal rhythm of a worship environment in a large church.

Experience with Planning Center Online essential. Basecamp, Live Design, Google, and Community Church Builder (CCB) a plus.

Experience with purchasing, check requests, employment forms (1099, etc)

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time

Ability to participate in rehearsals (Thursdays) and worship services (Sundays, etc)

Ability to participate in meetings in person and virtually $18-20/hour
