Job Title: Youth and Fitness Coordinator Reports To: Director of Education/Principal - Therese Tuccaro Secondary School (TTHS) Location: Keyano College Building, Fort Chipewyan, Alberta Department: Education Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary (August 31, 2026, to August 30, 2027)

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and coordinate fitness activities and programs for youth.

• Encourage student participation in fitness, wellness, and cultural activities that support confidence and belonging.

• Track attendance, participation, and basic fitness-related information as directed by school administration.

• Assist and connect with local sports program organizations, community events, and land-based or cultural programs.

• Coordinate and assist with evening and weekend Resource Room programs, such as teen nights, movie nights, and sports nights.

• Monitor school sport supply inventory levels and communicate needs to administration.

• Report safety concerns, incidents, or equipment issues promptly to administration.

• Ensure students have a safe and welcoming space.

• Supervise students during class transitions and non-instructional times to promote safety and positive behaviour.

• Collaborate with teachers, Elders, and support staff to align fitness activities with student needs and school goals.

• Uphold confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with students and staff.

• Complete general labour tasks around the school as needed.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in fitness instruction, youth recreation, or school-based youth programming is an asset.

• Experience in sports, such as hockey, baseball, soccer, basketball, or similar activities, is an asset.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced school environment and follow safety protocols.

• Ability to work under minimal supervision.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Other Requirements

• Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.

• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence is an asset.

• Clean criminal record check and vulnerable sector check required.

• Some evening and weekend hours are required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work is performed in a school setting with regular student interaction and supervision responsibilities.

• The role includes active fitness, recreation, and wellness activities, including indoor and outdoor programming.

• The position may involve field trips, land-based learning activities, community events, and post-secondary institution tours.

• The role may require standing for extended periods, lifting supplies or equipment up to 25 lbs, and completing general labour tasks around the school.
