Job Description Summary As a Control & Protection System Engineer, you will be responsible to design and provide a competitive technical solution to the customer in the domain of HVDC control and protection system (Automation & Application), associated AC & secondary engineering at the ITO stage. This includes analysing customer requirements, assessing the necessary deviations from our standard product while promoting standard solutions & cost competitivity. You will be part of Reference solution team that develops and maintains standard solutions and costs for HVDC & AC control & protection systems and provides overall tender solution with associated documentation in line with customer requirement. As a part of the team, your contribution would be a foundation of efficient and good quality project delivery.
Job Description Job ResponsibilitiesAnalyze in depth customer specification, identify gaps, raise clarifications & build solid technical solution to cater to customer requirement for HVDC & AC control & protection systemPrepare control, protection and sequencing strategy specificationsPerform preliminary dynamic performance studies in various simulation tools (MATLAB, PSCAD etc).Support improvements to existing algorithm/strategies for power fault recovery or instability issues during DPS studiesEnsure that project plans contain the necessary activities and studies required to meet the requirements of the customer and the proposed technical solutionIn coordination with systems team, design/contribute to AC substation Single line diagramsDevelop/ Customize standard control architectures, design of LAN networks, identify main IO lists through signal mapping & implement the necessary hardware & its compatibility with the control systemKnowledge of network and latest protocols (like IEC 61850) and understanding of basic substation architectureIn coordination with cybersecurity expert, analyze compliance to cybersecurity standards and their implementation in the networkCoordinate with internal and external partners to provide a complete solution with clear division of responsibilitySupport input data like auxiliary consumption, cubicle/equipment list to partnersPrepare technical specifications for sourcing and validation of offers received.Lead the discussions during customer meetings/workshopsPlan & ensure on-time delivery of engineering documents and cost estimatesEvaluate risks and opportunities & proposes mitigation measuresContribute to continuous improvement by participating & promoting standardization of tools, documents, solutions & equipmentFollow the departments standard design practices, engineering reviews and guidelines.Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes in EMHCross functional training across teams (Control Automation Systems, Control System Application, Protection System Application, Secondary engineering) will be provided.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements Degree in Electronics/Electrical engineering or related field.Minimum of 2 -3 years' experience in control and protection system designKnowledge of Electrical Substation and its HV, LV equipment and Auxiliary SystemsExperience in PSCAD and MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation tools is a mustStrong background on Electrical power system protection & controlExperience in working with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, e-base, Microsoft Visio is good to haveStrong sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage technical risksStrong written and verbal communication skills, experienced in creating and presenting technical reports and responding to clients' technical questionsAbility to understand and communicate customer requirementsAble to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining the safety, quality and engineering integrity of the solution
