About this role
As a Vice President within our Small Cap Investment Banking team, you will help build and deliver a growing franchise focused primarily on sell-side M&A (with related financing as applicable) for family-founded/family-owned businesses, sponsor-backed companies, and select small-cap public companies. The goal is to bring the full JPMorganChase platform to small cap clients through deep partnership with the Commercial Bank and Private Bank. This partnership model is core to success-Vice Presidents who can work effectively across the firm, build strong internal connectivity, and demonstrate confident client presence will be well positioned to thrive in a fast-paced, high-opportunity environment.
The team typically targets transactions in the ~$100-$500MM enterprise value range.
Job Responsibilities
Act as the primary day-to-day client point of contact and lead banker on transactionsReview and coordinate the analytic work of junior bankers to advance marketing and execution processesRefine marketing and execution materials for maximum client impactOversee the creation of financial projection models, valuation analyses, and supporting materialsLiaise with internal and external parties on transactions (e.g., lawyers, accountants, counterparties)Lead client negotiations, Q&A processes, and management interviewsRun sell-side M&A execution day-to-day, including workplan ownership, diligence coordination, buyer list development, outreach strategy, process management, and timeline controlOperate effectively in lean deal teams, providing hands-on leadership across deliverables while ensuring consistently high-quality, client-ready outputCoach and develop Analysts and Associates by setting clear workstreams, providing actionable feedback, and deploying team capacity efficiently Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Prior work experience in an investment banking front office roleDemonstrated experience leading day-to-day execution on M&A and/or financing transactionsExperience training and developing junior bankersExceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validityVery strong quantitative and analytical skills (including Excel modeling and valuation work)Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines; aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop practical solutionsAdaptability; able to manage projects independently and assume a high level of responsibility as a member of a teamAbility to comfortably interact with clients in a professional and mature mannerExcellent understanding of financial, legal, and reputational risks facing large integrated investment banks in today's environment Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Significant experience executing sell-side M&A processes end-to-end, including diligence coordination, management preparation, targeted buyer outreach strategy, and negotiation supportExperience advising family-owned/founder-led and/or sponsor-backed companies; comfort navigating multiple stakeholder dynamicsProven ability to operate in a cross-coverage partnership model, coordinating effectively with internal partners (including Commercial Bank and Private Bank) to source, evaluate, and execute opportunitiesDemonstrated ability to succeed in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent workstreams and lean teams
