About this role

The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) was founded in 1964 and since then, over 1.6 million students have participated in our educational and cultural exchange programs. The AIFS Abroad Division enables over 7,000 American college students to go abroad each year on one of our three program types: study programs send approximately 4,000 students to local universities around the world; customized, faculty-led programs host approximately 2,600 students; internships place approximately 650 students on placements every year.

Job Summary/Main Purpose

AIFS Study Abroad has a vacancy for a Programme Specialist in its London Office. The primary function of the role is to support the planning and effective delivery of a range of customised study abroad programmes within a portfolio of locations to agreed standards and within agreed budgets.

Responsibilities

To prepare proposals and create programme budgets for new and repeat customised faculty-led and Study Abroad programmes around the globe. To support the Programme Management team with updates and audits to programme materials. To work with U.S. faculty to design and deliver a programme which meets their academic goals. To liaise with the programme delivery staff to plan and book programmes and ensure a high level of student satisfaction. To maintain accurate accounts and exercise appropriate control over programme delivery costs. To prepare and update promotional and pre-departure materials. To provide a high level of customer service to U.S. faculty/ study abroad

Coordinators, responding in a timely manner.

To support Senior Leadership and Programme Managers with the design and implementation of divisional procedures and policy

Performance Indicators

Delivery of programmes within agreed budgets and timelines. Achieving at least 90% excellent and good on student evaluation forms.

Skills Required

Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent. Fluency in English. Excellent communication skills. Numeracy and ability to maintain records of expenditure. Ability to demonstrate initiative and think creatively to resolve problems. Well-developed interpersonal skills and a confident and helpful manner to relate to U.S. faculty and students in a customer service role. Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team and larger site-based team. Commitment to quality, flexibility, good interpersonal skills, ability to prioritise. Proficiency with Microsoft office programs.

Desired

Experience living, working or studying abroad, or working in Higher Education/Study Abroad. Fluency/working knowledge of a second language.

Salary and Benefits

In return for a minimum of a 35-hour working week Monday to Friday, and additional hours according to programme needs:

A basic gross salary of £32,000 per annum, plus additional benefits upon completion of probation, 22 days holiday and pension.
