About this role

The Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA) seeks to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Pakistan Studies, funded by the Rangoonwala Foundation. Working with Professor Adnan Naseemullah, the successful candidate will pursue an original programme of research while helping develop Pakistan Studies at Oxford.

The Role

The Fellow will undertake independent research on Pakistan, publish high-quality outputs, present research at conferences and seminars, organise research events, contribute to teaching in Global and Area Studies and South Asian Studies, supervise MSc dissertations, and contribute to the wider intellectual life of OSGA. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract with a start date of 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About You

You will hold (or be close to completing) a relevant doctorate by the start date, awarded no earlier than five years before 1 January 2026. You will demonstrate excellent research, publication and communication skills, together with a commitment to postgraduate teaching and supervision.

You will have

Independent research experience. High-quality publications or clear publication potential. Teaching and supervision experience. Experience organising seminars or conferences. Collaborative and inclusive approach.
