About the Department
Our Department of Accounting & Finance, within the School of Management & Executive Education, delivers industry-relevant programmes that prepare students for successful careers in accounting, finance and related professions. Our curriculum combines academic excellence with practical application, covering areas such as FinTech, blockchain and investment decision-making to equip students with the skills employers need.
About the Role
We're looking for an inspiring academic leader to head our Accounting & Finance department. You'll lead the strategic direction of the department, ensuring an outstanding student experience while driving excellent academic quality, student outcomes and graduate employability.
Working closely with colleagues across the University, you'll foster an inclusive and high-performing academic culture, lead and develop your team, and ensure programmes remain innovative, professionally relevant and aligned with industry expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the department to deliver outstanding teaching, assessment and student support. Driving student continuation, completion, satisfaction and graduate outcomes. Leading and developing Senior Lecturers and academic colleagues. Overseeing curriculum development to ensure programmes remain current, engaging and industry-focused. Building strong relationships with professional bodies and industry partners. Recruiting, developing and supporting outstanding academic talent. Representing Arden University internally and externally and contributing to the continued growth of the School.
About You
You'll be an experienced academic leader with a passion for delivering exceptional student outcomes and developing successful academic teams.
Essential requirements:
Extensive experience working with professional bodies such as ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CFA and IFA. Experience leading undergraduate and postgraduate Accounting & Finance programmes. Strong relationships with industry, including financial services, banking or commercial organisations. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline. A recognised higher education teaching qualification and/or Fellowship (e.g. PG Cert HE, SFHEA or PFHEA). Relevant industry experience within accounting, finance or business. Proven leadership, people management and team development skills. A successful track record of improving student experience, outcomes and academic quality.
Desirable:
PhD or equivalent Level 8 qualification. Management qualification or formal leadership training.
