The Interconnection Solutions department at PJM is a team of collaborative professionals and creative thinkers that drive innovation of interconnection tools and processes. Join our team as a Senior Engineer, where you'll play a critical role in advancing generation interconnection projects, working on high-impact projects that support energy reliability and sustainability.
In this role, you will:
• Work on an integrated team of engineers and software developers to build and maintain tools that support the process to interconnect new generation resources
• Coordinate, scope, and implement software features to streamline the work of interconnection project managers
• Explore new initiatives to increase efficiency of interconnection processes

Essential Functions:
• Drive innovation by contributing to the development of new tools and methods in the planning process
• Support integration with internal software applications which manage customer submitted interconnection applications
•
• Support integration with internal software applications that manage transmission upgrade scope and cost estimates provided by Transmission Owners
• Support automation of invoicing, cover letters, notices, and final agreements for the interconnection study process
• Partner with colleagues within the System Planning Division to tackle complex engineering challenges
• Represent PJM on industry committees, task forces, and stakeholder groups addressing planning and engineering topics
Characteristics & Qualifications:
Required:
• BS, Engineering/Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
• At least 5 years of experience programming in python and/or C#
• At least 5 years of experience programming for development of analytical and automation tools for enhanced reliability criteria testing and screening
• Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Ability to use mathematical and electrical theory
• Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support
Preferred:
• Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
• Familiarity with ticketing software (JIRA) and source control software (GitLabs)
• Experience programming in Microsoft VSTO and/or Angular
• Experience performing power flow analysis, interpreting results, and/or building power flow cases
• Familiarity with PSS/e, Aspen Oneliner, and/or TARA Generator Deliverability
• Experience mentoring others to perform complex studies
• Experience with LLM coding tools (CoPilot)
