Position Summary:

The Department of Biochemistry at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), invites applications for a Tenure-Track Faculty appointment in its Program in Chemical Biology. Appointments at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank will be considered. We seek individuals who will develop and apply integrative methods in chemical biology and structural biology to understand the molecular basis of human health and advance therapeutic approaches to cure chronic diseases, particularly cancer, inflammation and neurodegeneration. Candidates with interests in epigenetics, GPCR signaling, glycobiology, or metabolic disorders are encouraged to apply.

Department/Division Highlights:

The Department Biochemistry at MCW has a long history of outstanding research. Areas of research strength include cancer biology, cell signaling, glycobiology structural biology, and metabolism, supported by exceptional structural biology, chemical biology, and therapeutics development programs. MCW is the 3rd largest private medical school in the country. MCW is the lead member institution in the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin (CTSI-SW), together with Froedtert (a tertiary care adult hospital), Children’s Wisconsin (a nationally ranked acute care pediatric hospital), the Versiti Blood Research Institute (a private institute focused on basic, translational, and clinical research of blood disorders), Marquette University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Milwaukee School of Engineering and the Clement J. Zablocki VA Research Facility and Medical Center. The highly collaborative research environment at MCW offers abundant opportunities for collaboration with basic scientists and clinicians on the campus of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center (MRMC), which includes MCW, as well as Froedtert, Children’s Wisconsin, and the Versiti Blood Research Institute. Institutional cores and service centers at MCW offer a comprehensive collection of in cell, in vitro, and in silico technologies that allow scientists to focus on the most significant biomedical research questions. These include state-of-the-art research resources across all areas of chemical and structural biology, including chemistry and screening infrastructure, computational biology and drug design, cryo-EM, crystallography, solution NMR, solid-state NMR, EPR, and a wide collection of biophysical technologies.
