About this role
The CFO is the Trust's strategic lead for financial management, sustainability and resource planning and will provide professional leadership and advice to the CEO, Board of Directors and school leaders. The successful candidate will fulfil the statutory CFO function required by the Academy Trust Handbook and ensure the Trust maintains robust financial control, effective governance and long-term financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Trust's financial strategy and long-term financial planning. Oversee annual budgets, forecasting and financial performance monitoring. Ensure compliance with Academy Trust Handbook requirements and all relevant financial regulations. Lead statutory accounts preparation, audit processes and regulatory returns. Maintain effective risk management and internal control frameworks. Drive value-for-money initiatives and operational efficiencies. Support Trust growth opportunities including due diligence and academy onboarding. Lead and develop the finance team and promote financial accountability across the Trust. About You
Applicants should have:
Essential
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent). Significant senior leadership experience. Experience contributing at Board or Executive Team level. Strong financial planning, reporting and governance expertise. Excellent communication, analytical and leadership skills. Desirable
Experience within education, academy trusts or public sector organisations. Knowledge of Academy Trust Handbook requirements. Experience of organisational growth, mergers or acquisitions. What We Offer
