Title: Security Guard Hours: Monday - Friday Time: 9:00 -5:00 pm and/or TBD by building needs Reports to: Principal Qualifications:
• A minimum of a high school diploma
• A Minimum of two years' experience
• Must greet the public in a pleasant, positive manner.
• Proven ability to multi-task and complete projects.
• Proven work record of good attendance.
Purpose and Objectives of the Position: The Security Guard maintains high visibility on school property to prevent, suppress and respond to crimes against students, staff, and property in order to provide a safe school environment. To accomplish these tasks the Security Guard works closely with the staff and administration of the district. Essential Functions:
• Patrols district buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and traffic control.
• Conducts patrol inspections of doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
• Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, or calls SRO and/or police for assistance.
• Reports any unusual conditions or situations to the building administration.
• Patrols school grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles; to check cars for parking authorization; to determine if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, such as near fire hydrants or in driveways; and to check exterior lighting and emergency access routes.
• Makes written reports of security violations.
• Demonstrates effective human relations and communications skills.
• Adheres to good safety practices.
• Adheres to all district policies.
• Other duties as required or assigned.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: Must work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions. Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and turning. General Responsibilities:
• Follow all Board policies & procedures.
• Be familiar with crisis plan procedures; such as: fire, tornado and any evacuations.
• Must work with Administration on security desk schedule for vacation, sick leave, doctors' appointments, etc.
• Assist with providing general information to school community and guest.
• Wear district issued uniform or / approved attire on a daily basis.
• Attend workshops and in-service for continued professional growth.
• Assist in the development of forms and procedures to be utilized for safety and security of schools.
• Ability to attend staff meetings and general staff meetings.
• Ability to provide supervision and security after school activies.
• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, community agencies, and other groups.
• Ability to implement and follow all school district policies during all activities.
• Ability to keep current on new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
• Ability to keep student information and records confidential.
• Ability to respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner.
• Ability to implement and follow all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
• Ability to perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or other administrative staff.
Term of Employment: At will. Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board of Education Policy.
