Title: Upper School Co-ed Swimming Head Coach Reports to: Director of Athletics Stipend: Winter-$2,000 The Miami Valley School (MVS). The swimming coach is primarily responsible for training student-athletes, ensuring pool safety, managing swim meet logistics, and fostering academic eligibility and sportsmanship. The upper school swimming teams participate in Metro Buckeye Conference and OHSAA affiliated meets. In addition to maintaining a well-organized and welcoming program, the coach is an enthusiastic representative of MVS Athletics who attends athletic department events, trainings, pep rallies, and coaches’ meetings as set by the Director of Athletics. In your role as a coach at MVS, you will work alongside dedicated faculty who have taught and learned all over the world and in a variety of school contexts. As the swimming coach, you will have an impact on the greater MVS community as you build relationships with your players and nurture their success. Expectations: Assist in preparation and planning for the recognition of athletes for your coaching season (End of year sports awards). Meet Preparation including understanding of rules and regulations of the league, score keeping, and any other duties assigned by league officials (or willingness to learn) Attend all coaches meetings. Remain with student athletes at school, or end of meets, until all have been picked up after practices or away contests. Attend sport clinics and workshops at the direction of the Athletic Director. Attain and maintain all mandatory certifications required for my sport including but not limited to OHSAA Coaches Toolbox training, Pupil Activity Permit, CPR, van driving and first aid training. Assume responsibility by returning and/or accounting for any uniforms or equipment loaned to the team, submitting a list of students to be billed for uniform items, and a list of damaged or disreputable uniforms at the end of each season. Helping with practice setup and teardown of sport-specific equipment. Assist in helping student athletes with recommendations post season and summer training and club team opportunities. Help prepare students for the collegiate level and with college recruitment. Maintain records and protocols for student athletes using MVS seasonal sports to meet State of Ohio graduation requirements in collaboration with the MVS Registrar. Any other duties assigned by the Athletic Director. Qualifications Experienced in the rules and regulations of competitive swimming. The candidate must possess a combination of mandatory safety certifications, sport-specific technical knowledge and strong leadership experience. Lifeguarding or water safety training is a must. BCI/FBI background check required. Must be able to be on their feet for long periods of time. Benefits. This is a seasonal position without benefits. Take the Next Step.
