Vacancy Bulletin Position: Extracurricular Assignment Department Head - Health/PE Location: Winfield High School Length of Employment: Instructional Term for Students Qualifications: The successful candidate must be a member of the department at the school and must hold a West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate endorsed for a specialization representative of the department. Job Description: In addition to abiding by established laws, policies, rules and regulations, the Department Head shall have the following responsibilities and duties:
• Serve as the primary liaison between the principal and the department faculty.
• Serve as the chief spokesperson for the department.
• Maintain appropriate records, files, inventories, equipment and serial number lists.
• Compile and submit required reports.
• Maintain book inventories.
• Submit department orders for equipment and supplies.
• Distribute department supplies.
• Request repairs for department facilities and equipment.
• Conduct departmental and/or team meetings.
• Provide appropriate assistance to new teachers in the department.
