About this role
KIA Substitutes (Preschool - Grade 5) The Kids In Action Substitute provides flexible, as-needed support within the Kids In Action. This role ensures continuity of care and supervision for students when regular staff are absent. The substitute helps maintain a safe, engaging, and structured environment while assisting with daily program activities. Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children, be alert to the needs of the children as individuals and as a group.
• Help to execute developmentally appropriate activities in the following areas; STEM, Arts & Crafts, Homework, Group Games, Outside & Gym activities, Music and Dramatic Play.
• Help children to engage in activities with others
• Keep all Kids In Action spaces clean, neat and organized.
• Support positive behavior management using program guidelines
• Communicate effectively with staff and follow direction from the Team Leader.
• Follow all school and program policies, including safety and emergency procedures
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma
• Experience working with children (preferred)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and work on short notice
• Positive attitude and ability to engage children in activities
• Must be reliable and punctual
• CPR/First Aid certification (preferred)
Physcial Requirments:
• Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with children for extended periods
• Ability to participate in indoor and outdoor activities
• Physically able to lift items up to 20lbs.
