Early Education Intensive Paraeducator (0.8 FTE) Needed Location: Shelburne Community School This position will remain open until filled. Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) is seeking a warm, energetic, highly organized, and dynamic Early Education Intensive Paraeducator (0.8 FTE) to join our early education team at Shelburne Community School (SCS). This is a part-time position (4 days per week, up to 28 hours per week) supporting an inclusive preschool classroom. This position is vital to our mission of ensuring all students achieve grade-level expectations through specialized support and inclusive practices. The successful candidate will be a skilled, caring advocate for student growth, an innovative problem-solver, and a positive contributor to our collaborative school community. Primary Responsibilities
• Provide direct, intensive support for individual and small groups of students in the areas of personal development, personal care, behavior support, and social-emotional skills.
• Promote child growth by fostering independence and self-advocacy.
• Facilitate effective communication, social-emotional development, and behavioral support across inclusive preschool classroom settings.
• Collaborate closely with the early education team, special education team, and classroom teachers to align support with student needs.
• Support students during transitions, which may include the bus ride to and/or from school.
• Maintain a flexible, creative approach to meeting student needs and demonstrate a consistent willingness to learn and implement specialized support strategies.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues regarding student progress and instructional goals.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess
• Coursework in early childhood education and 2–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• A deep commitment to equitable instructional practices and inclusive education.
• Demonstrated strength in problem-solving and working as a collaborative team member.
• Exceptional organizational skills and a flexible, creative approach to meeting student needs.
• The physical ability to meet the requirements of the position, including lifting.
• A willingness to learn and implement specialized support strategies for diverse learning profiles.
• A positive and productive spirit that contributes to a welcoming school environment.
